Dear readers,
Do you sometimes wonder how the Amour Toxique story idea was born? On May 6th, 2015, we found a letter in our mailbox. My husband opened it without reading the name on the envelope. After reading a few handwritten lines, we noticed it was meant for someone else and stopped reading immediately. The next morning, my husband returned it to the mailman. That was it for him. He forgot about it. I didn’t. Handwritten letters are so rare these days. I have what I call my “story box”. Every time I see, read, or think of something that could turn into a potential story, I make a note and throw it into my box. After I finish a book (or series) I go through my box, searching for ideas. That letter left me asking myself a lot of questions about the sender and receiver. I cooked up several scenarios and shelved them at the back of my mind to come back to at a later stage. And I did, a year later, when I started writing Midnight Scent. Just thought it might be fun to share this story with you. Dori xoxo P.S. It was so much fun writing chapter 1 of Midnight Scent, when Ivy finds Judson's letters underneath the mattress. When was the last time you sent a handwritten letter to someone? Comment on this post or send me an email. It’s about two years ago for me. I LOVE receiving them but I’m just too lazy to write them. One of these days I have to change that.

Hey Dori, it's been awhile since I've received a hand written letter. I think it was from my baby when he went away to college about 7/8 years ago. It is an art form that needs to be kept alive! Enjoy your books sooooo much! Talk with you soon!

I really used to enjoy getting hand-written letters from my mom when I was in college. It's something special. I should reread them one of these days.
